ABOUT THE ARTIST

Ian has been a friend of the family for over 20 years.  We first met when working together at O’Neill clothing and he blew my mind with his ability to hand draw anything in a moments notice, adding his unique since of humor, edge, sci-fi horror and irreverence.

Born and raised in San Diego, California and has been doing some form of art for as long as he can remember.

Raised by hippies, bikers and werewolf, art and music in his blood, he became inspired at a young at by the likes of Frank Frazetta, Virgil Finlay, Robert Williams and R. Crumb.  Ian works with a variety of mediums such as pencil, pen, acrylic, oils, watercolor and tattoo art.

Over his career he has done work for himself, as a freelance artist and worked for brands such as Rusty, Quiksilver, Sims, O’Neill, …Lost and Shaun Palmer’s “Clown” graphics to name a few. Ian also plays a mean guitar and may be found watching music from the end of the bar or strapping on a guitar on that same stage.

Fast forward to today, Ian is now working on a passion project of Tijuana Sloughs.  Tijuana Sloughs is based around a river mouth wave right on the border of San Diego, CA and North Baja, MX.  It’s a wave that you ride at your own risk, no lifeguard near and a scary mix of you antitypical swimmers surrounding you from recent runoff.  Check out his new project at www.tijuanasloughssurfco.com
